Biography
Robert Schmidt came from a family of lawyers and owners of a large farm in Kvasetice-Květinov that he later co-managed as well. His uncles represented conservative farmers in the Czech Assembly. Schmidt acquired his license in 1902. In 1920, he joined Václav Nekvasil from Prague to found a joint company based in Hradec Králové, which operated until 1932. After Václav Nekvasil’s firm became a joint-stock company, Schmidt became independent again and worked as an independent builder until 1939 when his company was taken over by his son-in-law, engineer František Čížek (1901–1984). Čížek ran the company under his own name until the nationalization in 1948. Robert Schmidt’s licence was cancelled in 1946.
