Biography
Karel Novák was born in Kutná on 27 January 1882 Hora to Antonín Novák, a southern fruit seller, and Maria, daughter of Jan Bártl, a servant from Radim in the Kolín region. In 1901–1908, Novák studied structural engineering at the Czech Technical University in Prague. In 1908–1915, he participated in the construction of two power plants in Hradec Králové as an assistant engineer to František Sander. After WWI, he settled in Pilsen. On 17 July 1919, he married Anna Vilímcová, daughter of two Pilsen towners, in the Franciscans church in Pilsen. He became chief engineer of Škoda Works in Pilsen.
